Saw-whet Owl Banding Demonstration
October 9th | 8 – 9:30 pm
Registration required | REGISTER HERE
NBNC is part of a national network of scientists working to better understand the migration of the Northern Saw-whet Owl, a common yet elusive member of our Vermont forests. Join NBNC biologists as they capture, tag, and release these pint-sized owls. NBNC naturalists and educators will also discuss the highlights of recent research here and across the country, then share what’s been discovered about this mysterious little predator. Open to all ages.
Please note:
- The program will have a mixture of indoor and outdoor activity. Please wear warm clothes for the outdoor portion.
- Each program is limited to 40 people.
- We will cancel the program in the event of forecasted rain or high winds, and notify you via the email provided at registration by mid-afternoon on the day of the program. We will do our best to reschedule the program or invite you a different program.
- We can’t guarantee that we’ll encounter these wild owls, but these programs have been scheduled at the peak of their fall migration season when they are most likely to visit our research station.
- Please visit our calendar if you’d like to sign up for a different night.
- Because of the popularity of these programs, we ask that families limit themselves to one public owl demonstration per season.
