Join NBNC Birding Ambassador Chip Darmstadt on the shores of Lake Champlain in search of winter waterfowl and recent rare species sightings in Chittenden and Addison counties. In March, wintering ducks, grebes, and other waterfowl congregate by the thousands in ice-free bays and straits, presenting one of the most exciting birding day-trips that Vermont has to offer. Beginners will enjoy a full-day exploration of local avian ecology, while more experienced birders may be guided through identification challenges such as Lesser vs Greater Scaup, Barrows vs Common Goldeneye, and ducks in flight. Binoculars and spotting scopes provided.
The van will depart from NBNC in Montpelier at 8 am, but participants can arrange for pickup or drop-off enroute.
Limited to 10 participants.
