A casual morning of birding for all interests and experience levels. During these outings you will be guided through the basics of bird identification, behavior, songs, and the use of tools such as binoculars, field guides, and apps. Meet fellow bird enthusiasts, kindle new friendships, and enjoy a supportive environment where questions and shared discoveries are encouraged. Whether you’re a curious nature enthusiast, a budding birdwatcher, or simply interested in spending more time outside, this event is perfect for those with or without prior birding experience. NBNC’s leaders will provide tips and techniques to help you develop your birding skills and deepen your appreciation for the avian world.
Summer may be considered a slow time of year in terms of bird diversity, but this is an excellent season in which to develop and sharpen your bird identification skills. Fewer species means more time spent with the birds who are present, learning what characteristics to look and listen for.
Our Shared Commitment
Take care of yourself. Take care of others. Take care of the earth.
We strive to help people feel welcomed, oriented to the landscape, engaged, inspired, safe, and part of our community. We ask that our visitors and participants share this commitment while at North Branch Nature Center and during our programs. We expect that all who enter this shared space do so in the spirit of welcoming kindness, inclusivity, respect, and curiosity.
Directions: NBNC is located at 713 Elm Street in Montpelier. The Berlin Pond outings will gather on Mirror Lake Road in Berlin, VT. This is at the South end of the pond, which is much quieter with less traffic.
