We are deeply grateful for your support.

Your contribution to the North Branch Nature Center will make a significant difference in our future. We are deeply grateful for your financial support. Please call if you would like to discuss any aspect of your giving plans. We would be delighted to talk to you!

  • Cash Contribution

A cash contribution is the easiest way to give. Look for the Donate Now button on our website or simply mail a check made out to North Branch Nature Center to NBNC, 713 Elm Street, Montpelier, VT 05602

There are other ways to give to the North Branch Nature Center. Each donor should consider these methods and find the one that best suits his or her current situation. In many cases you may find there are tax benefits with certain ways of giving. Please discuss these with your financial advisor, and call us if you have specific questions.

  • Stocks, Mutal Funds, or Bonds

Gifts of stocks, mutual funds, or Bonds are often the most popular way to give, because a gift of appreciated property is tax-deductible at full fair market value at the time of the gift, and no capital gains tax is due. Most donors find this is a way to make a more generous gift than they could have done otherwise. Please ask your broker to contact us at 802-229-6206 or send the securities with a letter of transmittal to Charles Schwab & Co. (DTC# 0164; Friends of North Branch Nature Center, Inc.; A/C 9812-8800).

  • Insurance Policies

Insurance policies are welcomed as a contribution to the campaign. We accept paid policies, as well as policies wherein you provide the means for premium payments over the term of the insurance. Please discuss this with us prior to making your arrangements.

  • Property or Tangible Goods

You may have property or tangible goods you would like to donate. In this case it is best to contact us before making the gift to be sure it can be accepted. Please be aware that tax law requires that you obtain an appraisal of any tangible goods valued at $5000 or more, prior to your donation, and the immediate sale of the gift may affect the limits of its tax-deductibility. In the case of a gift of real estate, you may need to have an environmental appraisal, which would also be at your expense. We are happy to discuss this if you are thinking of such a gift, so please contact our Executive Director, Chip Darmstadt, at 802-229-6206 or [email protected].

  • Planned Gifts

Planned Gifts are an increasingly popular way to make a long-term impact with your contribution. This could include trusts, retirement funds, charitable gift annuities and other estate planning methods. As a tax-exempt organization, we can benefit from a variety of trust arrangements and bequests which carry substantial benefits for the donor. Please contact us to discuss these possibilities.

  • Bequests

Bequests are the ultimate gift. Please let us know if you have made provision for a gift to the North Branch Nature Center in your will, so we can include you in that listing each year.

Buy Bird Friendly Coffee

Bird Friendly” coffee is a simple and effective way to help migratory birds that travel to the American tropics for the winter. Many of the migrants that summer in Vermont – birds like the Wood Thrush, Scarlet Tanager and Chestnut-sided Warbler – overwinter in places like Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru. Where native forests have been virtually eliminated, birds find refuge in shade-grown coffee plantations. Not all shade grown coffee is created equal though, hence the need for certification programs like that of the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. Plantations with a diverse or “rustic” canopy provide the best habitat for our globetrotting songbirds.

Where Can I Get "Bird Friendly Coffee"?

Place an order through NBNC to save on shipping and pick up your coffee straight from NBNC. Co-ops in Vermont are also starting to carry Birds & Beans coffee, too. Don’t see it in yours? Let your local co-op manager know it’s important to you!
