Riverside Wildlife of the North Branch: The Hidden Lives of Our Wild Residents
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Free and in-person at NBNC
Presentation will be livestreamed and recorded
The forested landscape along the North Branch of the Winooski River is home to an intricate web of life. Through tracking, camera trapping, and quiet observation we can peer into the lives of NBNC’s most secretive animals: foxes, felines, ravens, beavers, bears, and more. In this presentation, we’ll go on a virtual exploration of the ecosystem to visit some of its wildest creatures and most interesting stories.
About the Presenter:NBNC Teacher-Naturalist Ana Maria Arroyo is thrilled to be achieving her childhood goal to be “the person that brings cool nature stuff to school”. She earned a degree in Environmental Studies from Ithaca College, and is a certified North America Track & Sign Professional. Ana Maria was a wildlife rehabilitator and falconer before moving to VT, and can most often be found poking around the beaver wetlands at the nature center, looking for caterpillars in the meadow or following animal trails in the snow.
About our Naturalist Journeys 2026 Winter Presentation Series: This season is about understanding how our watersheds function, how our rivers flow, and which actions move us towards—or away from—becoming a more resilient riverside community. The series runs December through March.
This project has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC 00A01526-0) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
