aurora borealis in plainfield on a dark nightWhat do you see when you step outside your door on a moonless night? A dark sky filled with stars, or the bright blur of a light-polluted sky? Amateur astronomer George Springston and Research Assistant Professor at Norwich University, will talk about what light pollution is, how light pollution impacts organisms (including humans), and the principles of responsible outdoor lighting. We’ll discuss steps our communities can take to reduce light pollution and protect our remaining dark skies. If the sky is clear, there will be an optional stargazing event after the presentation.

The presentation will run approximately 7-8 pm, with optional stargazing from roughly 8:15- 9:15 after the presentation.
