The NBNC Team
Sarah has been immersed in nature since day one, from living in a two-room cabin with her parents on the Salmon River in Connecticut, to growing up hiking, camping, canoeing, gardening, and building forts in the woods. She has taken several really long walks, including Vermont’s Long Trail, the John Muir Trail in California, and the Appalachian Trail. Her love for being in nature led to learning all she could about it, and she holds a degree in biology, with coursework also in earth science, outdoor education, and early childhood education. She comes to NBNC after working for 20 years with several small businesses and nonprofit programs, including the Biomass Energy Resource Center and Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, and she works as a professional writer, copy editor, and communications contractor as well. Sarah lives for hiking in the mountains, riding bikes, swimming and paddling in deep rivers, going on rambling backcountry ski tours, and generally just being outdoors whenever possible. She makes a home among the forests and farms of Marshfield with her young daughter, their cat Henry, a huge vegetable garden, and 10 chickens.
