Meet at Mill Park in Plainfield
Part of our Resilient Rivers Series

By understanding a little of the science behind how water and earth interact, we can learn to predict where flowing water is likely to cause erosion, deposition, and flooding. This field trip explores several sites along Plainfield’s Great Brook, the site of major flash flooding and river channel transformation in 2024. George Springston is a Plainfield resident and a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Norwich University, specializing in landslides, natural hazards, and stream geomorphology.

This project has been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC 00A01526-0) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
