Hunger Mountain Christmas Bird Count
December 26 @ 12:00 AM - 11:30 PM
This year marks the 119th annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count, making it the longest running citizen science project on the planet. More than 50,000 observers across North America participate each year in this all-day census of winter bird population. The results are compiled into the longest running database in ornithology, representing over a century of continuous trends of bird populations.
This long tradition of winter birding is great fun for new and expert birders alike. We welcome both vehicle-based field observers to count birds as part of a team, and feeder watchers who will count birds at their own feeders. A potluck gathering follows the day of birding.
The Hunger Mountain count circle includes areas of Waterbury, Stowe, Middlesex, Worcester, Bolton, and Duxbury.
