ECO Institute – Winter Series (For Educators)

4:30 – 7 pm (no session on Feb 26)
Participants must have completed ECO Institute Level 1
This course is designed for educators who have an established routine of learning and exploring outdoors, who are seeking a deeper understanding of their natural landscape, and wish to extend their development and educational practices through the winter season. Participants will:
- Develop a foundation of natural history knowledge through immersive study of wildlife tracking, winter tree and plant identification, wild edible preparation, geology, and basic forest forensics.
- Practice techniques for achieving a deeper level of inquiry and observation in nature through storytelling, wilderness craft, winter shelter construction, and the art of friction-fire.
- Learn hands-on methods for embedding this knowledge into outdoor lessons and educational opportunities.
- Build routines to deepen your class’s sense of place within the outdoor learning environment.
