5th Annual Festival of Trees with The Montpelier Tree Board

February 9 @ 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The Montpelier Tree Board and friends invite you to join us to celebrate trees and our work with trees. Trees help pull carbon from the air, hold it in the earth, and help build wonderful delightful, healthy soil. Our Montpelier treescapes play a vital role in climate correction. And we need your help to help our trees! Our speaker, Cat Buxton, will explain how each of us can play a role in building healthy soil, planting edible, perennial landscapes, and strengthening our communities.

Everyone who comes to the Festival is eligible for drawings for the many door prizes that include:

  • a yard of rich, earthy compost
  • a green cone food-scrap digester
  • a brown soil saver container
  • Books like: Bringing Nature Home, How Plants Work, and Dirt to Soil!

At 1 pm, the first 5 children will get their choice from three books. The first 10 adults will get a free copy of The Parents’ Guide To Climate Revolution.

Everyone will get a share in the birthday cake! Cakes made with tree nuts and fruit; without wheat flour.
Bring your own cup for apple cider.

It is your opportunity to sign up for a home visit by a Tree Board Member for a tree-planting consultation. (Montpelier residents)

So dress for the weather and bring your snow shoes or boots to join in Shoe B’Shevat – an opportunity to snow shoe around the Nature Center with Ken Benton and learn how to identify trees in winter.

The Happy Birthday Chorus -an outdoor singing of Happy Birthday to the trees in your favorite language
